From 2013 to today — how a failed app startup 🙈 became an agency that won 3× at the Meilleur du Web. The real story, told by Wiam, year by year.

2013

The birth of Vojood

February: I ask my buddy Romain (@romain_billaud), a graphic-design genius, to create Vojood’s very first logo. Originally, my friend Yves and I wanted to launch a mobile-app company… running a digital comms agency wasn’t even part of the plan. 🙈

2014

The unemployment chapter begins

October: freshly unemployed, I try on a few hats — “Marketing Consultant,” “Business Developer” — while writing tech articles for the papers. In short, it didn’t go as planned. 😅

2015

Burnout & London

August: burnout… it would take me a year and a half to recover. September: I head to London for 3 months to take the Cambridge C1 Advanced. Most importantly, that’s where I meet my little brother Elias (@eliasnieto), whose one WhatsApp reply changed the whole rest of my journey. 🫶🏼

2016

Launch of Vojood Media

July: I launch Vojood Media, a content-creation outlet… which, 4 years later, would become “@wiamfrz’s playground.” And the cherry on top: my first big client lands, Romande Énergie. ⚡

2017

Enter the Dadash*

February: I meet Shahrouz aka Kyle (and his sandwiches). He becomes Vojood’s very first team member. One thing is certain: without him, the agency wouldn’t be where it is today. Thanks for everything, bro! 🙏🏼

* “dadash” means “brother” in Farsi

2018

The Sàrl is born & 🍔🍟

April: the Sàrl is officially incorporated. Right after, we sign the Royal Savoy Lausanne and… McDonald’s Switzerland! For McDo, around the World Cup, we put out one of our finest digital campaigns — which earns us a shortlist at the Meilleur du Web. 🚀

2019

The team grows! Yes, but…

We go all in on creating Instagram filters. The team climbs to 5–6 people and, a huge source of pride: the Banque Cantonale Vaudoise (BCV) joins the roster. But I brush up against another burnout… and I realise I don’t want a team that big. 😰

2020

New vision & COVID

January: I start working with Vindou to restructure the company and clarify my vision. Five months later: new logo, new direction, and Vojood Media becomes Wiamedia. Oh, and incidentally, on 16 March a full lockdown kicks off in Switzerland. 🫠

2022

Chris joins the adventure!

October: the Wikipedia of sneakers, aka Chris, joins the agency 🎉. That same month, we acquire the web agency Pixeleez with my buddy Benoît (Sinabe Sàrl). Moral of the story: October was the month of big strategic hires. 💰
